Back... In Black.

GE fans may want to check out
a Tribute to GoldenEye 007:

goldeneye007.detstar.com
Although I don't have a link to my obituary, I have written an Epilogue to the Detstar Gaming Network.

The website's long gone, but luckily the Destar pages exist in archive format @ web.archive.org.

So yeah, I'm still around... And I'll be posting on dextercomics.blogspot.com for now.

Best Bond Babes...

As most Bond fans are aware, Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie, Tomkats) had her voice and likeness featured in the James Bond game Everything or Nothing.

Beginning with Dr. No and continuing with Casino Royale, dozens of actresses have appeared on the big screen with James Bond.

I wonder if Agent 007 himself has a favorite...

The Doctor Will Own You Now...

Did you know that surgeons who play video games are more likely to excel at precise hand movements than their non-gaming counterparts? Doctors who play video games have higher dexterity, and better hand-eye co-ordination to perform delicate movements with surgical tools...

According to the experts, school shootings are the only impact that video games have on society... It simply can't be possible that *gasp* video games can have a positive influence, can it?

Detstar Forums

I'm always hearing from people who want to talk about the featured games with other players...

The original Detstar Forums were a hit, and the community lasted for several years before excessive traffic caused us to get shut down.

But now with the release of Super Smash Bros BRAWL on the horizon, it might be worthwhile to try and resurrect the long lost messageboard... Details to follow.

Fire Emblem Duel...

No official word yet on whether Fire Emblem's Marth or Roy will return in Super Smash Bros Brawl, but the fan popularity of this pair is enormous.

Roy quickly became one of my favorite fighters, but other players swear by Marth. Which one's your favorite? And could one of these swordsmen be chopped from the roster in favor of the other?

Wiimotely Dangerous?

Since Nintendo was giving away free replacement wristraps for the Wii, I decided to order a few. (Hey, if they were giving away a free jar of peanut butter, I'd get in on that)

You can order replacement straps for free from Nintendo's website by providing them with the serial number on the bottom of the Wii console. I was hoping to see those reinforced straps I'd heard about, but just received regular straps. My original looks exactly like the new one, except that mine (on the left) looks slightly stretched compared to the new one (on the right).

Of course, I didn't need a replacement... Because when I finally sit down to relax and enjoy a game, I don't usually have enough energy to wildly swing the controller around like a madman.

Nearly one million Wii consoles have been sold, and a few dozen people have managed to break stuff in their homes. By sheer coincidence, many of these people were admittedly drunk while playing.... People have even broken wine glasses, which proves that while playing sports, you should always drink directly from the bottle.

Legends of the Past...

Although it's too soon to say for sure, Zelda: Twilight Princess is starting to become my favorite Zelda game.

Tentatively placing Twilight Princess at the number one spot, I'd have to round out the top three with Ocarina of Time (N64) and A Link to the Past (SNES).

In Twilight Princess, I've been completely drawn into the mysterious plot and often keep playing "one more hour" just to find out what happens next. I almost feel "inside the game", something I haven't felt since Ocarina of Time...
